At Anfield Road Primary School we believe that all pupils and members of staff should have the opportunity to fulfil their potential whatever their background, identity and circumstances.  

Within the promotion of our school values of freedom, respect, responsibility, democracy, 'scouse & proud' and being actively eco-friendly, we are committed to creating a community that recognises and celebrates difference within a culture of respect and co-operation.    We appreciate that a culture which promotes equality will create a positive environment and a shared sense of belonging for all who work, learn and use the services of our school.  We recognise that equality will only be achieved by the whole school community working together – our pupils, staff, governors and parents/carers. 

Our Equalities Policy and Objectives are designed to guide us in fulfilling the 2010 Equality Act which states that public bodies are required to have due regard to: 

• Eliminate discrimination and other conduct that is prohibited by the Act 

• Advance equality of opportunity between people 

• Foster good relationships across all characteristics 

We are very proud to have achieved Inclusion Quality Mark flagship status. This highlights Anfield Road Primary School as a centre of excellence in this area.  This mark is awarded only to schools who have taken measures to embed Equality throughout their practice with the goal of enabling all pupils to thrive in a supportive learning community.  

As noted in the report, the moderator, Mr Alex Coughlin stated:  

Anfield Road Primary School exemplifies what it means to be inclusive in action, not just intention. It is a community that holds space for every child, regardless of ability, background or barrier, and builds the conditions in which all children can thrive. This is a school where aspiration, joy, rigour, and care come together with clarity of purpose and collective will. It has been a privilege to witness this in action. (June 2025)

Our Equality objectives for the academic years 2025-2029 are:

1. To build an inclusive school culture where racism, bullying, and discrimination are not tolerated and every member of the school community feels valued and safe.

2. To ensure all pupils, regardless of background or ability, have equitable access to enrichment opportunities that foster personal development, wellbeing, and a sense of belonging within the school community.

3. To provide tailored support for pupils and parents with English as an additional language so they can thrive in our community.

4. To ensure the school actively promotes and prioritises raising awareness, appreciation and celebration of diversity including gender, sexuality, race, religion or belief and disability.
