"My Dream would be a multicultural society, one that is diverse and where every man, woman and child are treated equally. I dream of a world where all people of all races work together in harmony."

A Heart as Big as Liverpool

Liverpool is one of Britain’s most multicultural cities. The city is home to Britain’s oldest African community and Europe’s largest Chinese community. It was also the site of one of the country’s earliest mosques. Much of Liverpool’s diversity began when people arrived via the docks, whether this be through work, trans-Atlantic travel or to escape troubles in their home countries. Those people who settled here brought with them their different cultures, religious beliefs, food and languages and helped shape our wonderfully diverse, inclusive city.

Honorary Scousers

Here at Anfield Road we are very proud to welcome children and their families from all around the world. We welcome everyone with open arms, no matter what your ethnicity, religion, socio economic circumstances or the journey you may have made to reach us. We are so happy that you chose us and from the second you join us at Anfield you become part of our family and an honorary Scouser.

Our rich diversity and multicultural ethos provides the children with the opportunity to learn about the world around them. Our children are respectful and inclusive to each other and we value the lessons we can learn from our cultures, traditions, language and history.

As part of our curriculum we celebrate the cultures of our children. This includes Language of the Month where we chose one of the 32 languages spoken in our school and each class learns the basics of each language such as hello, goodbye, thank you etc. The languages change each month. We encourage the use of home languages but we also run classes for our parents so that they can learn English. Our children with English as an Additional Language receive targeted support to access the curriculum from one of our EAL specialist teachers.

School of Sanctuary

We are proud that Anfield Road Primary School is an accredited ‘School of Sanctuary’. A School of Sanctuary is a school that helps its students, staff and wider community understand what it means to be seeking sanctuary and to extend a welcome to everyone as equal, valued members of the school community. We are a school that is proud to be a place of safety and inclusion for all.
