Pupil Premium
What is Pupil Premium?
The Pupil Premium grant is a sum of money allocated to local authorities and schools with pupils on roll that are known to have been eligible for free school meals (FSM) at any time in the last six years. It is intended to enable schools to provide targeted support to help vulnerable children to reach their full potential and diminish any differences between disadvantaged pupils and their peers. Schools have the freedom to spend the Premium, which is additional to the existing school budget, in any way they think will best support the raising of attainment for the most vulnerable pupils.
Please read the information below which gives details of our Pupil Premium Grant and how we allocate the funding.
Everyone should make an application for Free School meals as if it is successful the school gets additional funding called Pupil Premium. This still has to be applied for even if your child has a free meal in Key Stage 1. You get an instant answer and you can apply here (link)
The funding is intended to help tackle underachievement for these pupils. At Whitefield approximately 56% of our pupils are in receipt of pupil premium funding.
We use this funding to:
Ensure that the educational needs of all pupils are met through high quality teaching
Ensure that appropriate additional provision is made for pupils who belong to vulnerable groups.
